Many K-Pop idols participate in every aspect of their music production, be it through the norm like their vocals and raps, or through songwriting and production. Being fully aware of what their members sound and what their fans like, they confidently express their creativity further ensuring that good and quality music that expresses and conveys their messages are released. In this article, we are going to share some of our favorite idols who are also exceptional music producers.
1. MONSTA X’ I.M
The idol is known for his deep and raw sound, his fierce and exciting rap verses, his captivating stage presence, and his model-like visuals and physique. But he is also known for his music production skills, as he has produced several songs for his group. Which have all been a massive hit. Songs like ‘Rotate’, ‘Night View’ ‘Gravity’, ‘Shine Forever’, ‘Zone’, and ‘Fantasia’ to name a few.
He also self-produced songs on his solo album “Duality”. With credits to amazing songs like these, we can tell just how much of a talented producer the idol is, his passion for music, and utilizing his creative talents to give fans so many amazing songs that are always bops.
2. ATEEZ’ HongJoong
The idol is not just the leader of ATEEZ, and not just one of the best idol rappers in K-Pop right now, he is also widely recognized for his music production skills. We got a sneak peek at this during the Mnet reality music show “KINGDOM: LEGENDARY WAR”, where we saw him create one of the best compositions on the show.
He has also lent these skills to the production of some of his group’s major hit songs. He has participated in the writing of almost all the group’s songs, also composing and arranging songs like ‘From’, ‘Celebrate’, ‘Good Lil Boy’, ‘Horizon’ and ‘Aurora’ to name a few. He has also produced his covers of various hit songs like ‘Purple Rain’, ‘Numb’, ‘Black and White’, etc.
3. Stray Kids’ Bang Chan
The leader of Stray Kids is another idol that is known for his skills that extends to music production. He is often at the helm of every song the group performs, from its lyrics to composition and arrangement, the idol does it all. Songs like ‘Hellavator’, ‘District 9’, ‘Miroh’, ‘Top’, ‘Haven’, ‘Any’, ‘God’s Menu’, ‘Maknae on Top’, ‘Thunderous’, etc.
His credits are so long they wouldn’t contain the length of this article. Like HongJoong, we also got to see him compose and arrange songs for the Mayfly unit during the Mnet music reality show “KINGDOM: LEGENDARY WAR”.
4. ONEUS’ RAVN
The idol is also a super producer and an excellent songwriter. A skill that has gained him massive recognition in the industry as he is always credited for his group’s songs, which we must say, are all hits. The idol has written and/or composed popular songs like ‘Dizzy’, ‘Universe’, ‘Hero’, ‘Valkyrie’, ‘Twilight’, ‘Leftover’, ‘Polarity’, ‘Shut Up Crazy Hot’, and ‘Life is Beautiful’.
His creativity, talent, and passion span wide making him not just a powerful rapper and entertainer but also a soon-to-be renowned songwriter and producer.
5. GOT7’s JAY B
Since the group’s debut, the idol has often taken part in the production of their songs, either through songwriting, composition, or arrangement. A behind-the-scenes video showed where he would go and submit songs to J.Y. Park to get his feedback. Over the years, we have seen this interest grow even more as he became a centerpiece in the production of some of his group’s popular songs.
Aside from GOT7, he has also produced songs for subunit JJ Project, Jus2, the musical group Offshore, and other artists like Mirror Boy, Wavycake, and Ovus. Some of the songs in his amazing discography are ‘Crazy’, ‘Switch It Up’, ‘Dream’, ‘You Calling My Name’, ‘Eclipse’, ‘Everyday’, and ‘Teenager’, to name a few.
