Having made their debut in 2015, iKON has successfully etched their name in the K-Pop books as one of the idol groups whose refined sound and style of music is so unique and distinct, it simply cannot be replicated. Not in reliance on their popularity alone, they are a group who have the talents to back up the fame and success they continue to achieve today. With long years of hard work that has spurred hit records and amazing performances, today, this 3rd generation K-Pop group are not resting on their already impressive laurels as they continue to strive to achieve even greater success in the future. One of the reasons why we (like many fans) adore iKON is because their creativity and talents are boundless. They are not afraid to go where others can’t and they keep redefining their sound. 1. ‘Ah Yeah’
iKON’s style of music is pretty diverse and this is clear in their discography. From RnB to Hip-Hop, they completely embody every genre they perform in with a level of expertise that almost makes it seem like they specialize in that particular genre. This Hip-Hop song is a clear favorite because of the feelings derived from it. It is almost like a war cry. Like the background track used when as the hero in an action movie is preparing for an epic fight scene. And you just know said hero is about to slay! It is an anthem, one that emboldens and drives a sense of confidence and belief into the minds of its listener.
2. ‘ADORE YOU’
Like many fans, we love it when iKON shows off their amazing vocal range in songs. And with ‘ADORE YOU’, they didn’t just bless our ears with their melodic and harmonious vocals but took us to an elevated plane of bliss and serenity that we just didn’t want to leave. One of the driving forces or elements that makes iKON’s song so special is their vocals. They notably all have distinct tones but there is a beautiful sound that emanates from their vocals when blended together. A song with a high replay value, no matter how many times you listen to this song, even on repeat, there are surreal vocal moments that will give you goosebumps and make you admire iKON even more.
3. ‘SINOSIJAK’
‘SINOSIJAK’ is that hype song that makes you feel like the flyest in the room. It is fun, energetic, funky, and swaggy. This is the type of song you’d listen to and have a feeling of “nobody can tell me anything. I look good, I feel great, I am the one” kind of attitude. P.S Bobby and former member B.I, ate and left no crumbs with their rap verses. They both delivered with a level of finesse and flair that was truly delightful and entertaining. And listening to this song today, its clearly evident that they have been amazing and fierce rappers since their debut.
4. ‘Killing Me’
This is a song we would describe as “flavorful”. Meaning, it had all the right ingredients that created a sumptuous and delicious meal that would leave you thoroughly satisfied. From the immaculate production to the amazing vocals (yes, they always deliver in this department. ALWAYS) and superb rap verses, the switch in beat at the chorus, and the anthem-like chant at the end of the song. The talent and brilliance that was put into making this song are so evident and that is one of the reasons why it’s a favorite till date.
5. ‘Love Scenario’
One of the greatest K-Pop songs of all time, for eons to come, ‘Love Scenario’ will still hold its place as a classic favorite for many K-Pop fans. The simplicity of the song is one of the reasons why it is so special. Clear as day, their amazing vocals carry the song beautifully. And with its simple melody, catchy rhythm, thoughtful lyrics, and soft and almost subtle instrumentals, this song is not just enjoyable but very easy to listen to. It’s the kind of song that you can unwind to and sets you in a good and relaxed mood.
6. ‘But You’
Fans needed good music with clear and resounding lyrics and messages, beautiful melodies and amazing rap verses, good music that would make many feel great and iKON understood the assignment. They didn’t just deliver one of the best comebacks this year but scored an A++. ‘But You’ is everything you’d love and expect from iKON. Beautiful vocals that were layered to perfection, groovy rhythm, amazing swag-filled rap verses, amazing instrumentalization, and the clear sound that makes their music thoroughly enjoyable. Furthermore, this comeback projected their growth as artists.
7. ‘NAME’
Just when you think “FLASHBACK” couldn’t be any more perfect, you listen to ‘NAME’ and as the tears dramatically fall from your eyes, you come to a realization that the album is truly a complete work of art. Even without having to search for the lyrics, you already know this is an emotional song. And when you do look at the lyrics, you see a beautiful story that captures their lives, the pain of the past, their mistakes, conflicts, and a hope for a better future.
