There are K-Pop fans across the globe who share the same passion. But on online platforms, it is hard to know about each other’s stories and K-Pop life. Even if we are in the same fandom, it is hard to get to know each other. So at Kpopmap, we started the Kpopmap Fan Interview Project to get to know more about K-Pop fans from different countries: more about their K-Pop life and tastes and to give them the opportunity to share with our readers about their favorite group(s) and bias. Axel from Colombia is the next fan to answer our questions. He is a fan of JUST B, particularly of GeonU! Check out how he entered the fandom, the songs and content he advises to new fans, and much more! Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from? My name is Axel, I’m 15 and I’m a Colombian ONLY B How and when did you enter the fandom? I entered the fandom before the group name was even revealed, so around March/April 2021, I watched “I-LAND” so I knew JM and GeonU since before, so when GeonU was introduced as the first member I was immediately part of the fandom. What are the reasons why you love your favorite group? I love JUST B due to their multiple talents, 4/6 members have already helped choreograph many of their songs since debut, and they’ve also helped produce and write some of their songs. They constantly release content for fans, either variety or vlogs or covers. The content I personally really love from them is their “Cover by B” section on YouTube, where they release covers of songs from all over the world for ONLY Bs everywhere. Who caught your attention at first and why? GeonU! He caught my attention when he performed ‘Chained Up’ by VIXX on the entrance test in “I-LAND”, and he kept calling my attention more every performance since then. Who is your bias, and why? Still GeonU, he’s been my ult for over a year now, I think it’s because of his voice, it’s so nice to listen to and so clear, and over the years his performance has gotten so much better, when you see him on stage it’s basically impossible to take your eyes off him, it’s a combination of his insane vocals, dance skills, and charisma that just make him the perfect performer. He’s also got a really nice personality, he is very energetic, being like the fake maknae even though he is the oldest member, and loves his members and fans dearly, he’s very dedicated to being an idol and is the member who posts the most on Twitter for fans. Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans? Even though all of JUST B’s music is amazing, believe me, they don’t have a single bad song, I’m gonna go for my personal favorites: For a title track I’m gonna recommend their most recent comeback (April 2022) ‘RE=LOAD’, from their album “JUST BEGIN” and for a B-side ‘Don’t Go Back’, which is my favorite song of theirs, from the same album. Can you recommend a fancam, V Live, cover video, cover dance, or individual content video of your bias to our readers? I’m gonna recommend two videos: First, the “[JUST B-LOG] Deja Vu Choreography Work Journal”, where you can see GeonU make the choreography for one of JUST B’s debut album B-sides, ‘Deja Vu’. And second, the “COVER by B” of ‘Stay’ by The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber, which is GeonU’s first (and so far only) solo vocal cover on YouTube. Can you also do the same type of recommendation for the group? As I mentioned before there’s a lot of content from them, so I’ll just give three content recommendations from YouTube: “JUST B Baam escape”: a pre-debut show with Mnet where JUST B we’re allowed to “escape” and do whatever they wanted from sunset till sunrise. “Right! Just THAT! “: JUST B’s variety show where they play games and do various activities, sadly we haven’t gotten any new episodes since February. “JUST B.ucket list”: a bunch of videos where JUST B do things on their bucket lists together. Can you share with us one of your favorite lyrics? “Your light it makes me bright If it’s us, there’s nothing to worry about I won’t loose my grip on your hand Don’t be afraid I’ll be there” -‘Lights On’ Are there any words from the members you would like to share? “It’s okay, you can smile now Everything will be okay okay okay Whenever you want And whoever you are I’ll be there for you Everything will be okay okay okay” -DY’s ‘Will B Ok’, which he released for their first anniversary What is your favorite group/bias’ influence on your daily life? JUST B, especially GeonU, DY, and SangWoo, constantly inspire me to try harder and practice more dancing, even though I had lost all my confidence in it during quarantine. They helped me regain my passion and confidence. DY, who also draws under the name “SODAM”, inspires me to keep drawing even though his art is so different from mine. What is your favorite side of fangirling/fanboying? I think it is how healing and rewarding it can be when you see your idols achieve their goals, being genuinely grateful and proud of themselves and their fans, it’s also just fun by itself, having something to pay attention to and help you feel better when you’re feeling down. Axel’s message for JUST B: JUST B! You guys are my pride and are constantly reminding me how hard-working you are, all of you have been working very hard to prepare for the tour while also preparing a comeback and attending music festivals, I know you will do amazing in everything and I’m grateful to be able to witness all of your musical journey.
