Today, we’re diving deep into KARD member and soloist BM’s latest single ‘LIE (Lost In Euphoria)’!
“I found you now I’m lost in euphoria / Lost but I love it, don’t look for me / Let’s go somewhere with no pain / It’s okay if we get lost / With you yeah” What could have been a healing experience for both parties in the relationship, instead became a toxic dynamic that left both of them unable to find real happiness. Yet, staying is somehow more comfortable, even if the relationship has no direction. “I want to stay lost in euphoria” Even with honest intentions, internalized trauma could very well get in the way of a healthy relationship, and the dreamlike illusion of a happily-ever-after is broken to give way to the painful reality. “Promise that I’d never let it fade away / Said that I would slide for you any day…I was fooled by the words that it will last forever / I can see it now, only broken promises” The moment one makes the decision to choose oneself instead of the relationship, it might seem as though there’s no turning back. However, BM pleads for healing in togetherness. “Even if everything seems to fall apart / Even if you turn your back, I’m on your side” In a callback to KARD’s ‘Medication’, BM is reminded of the good old days when he rode off into the sunset with his lover, unaffected by the world or rather, numbed to it. “Buck 20 whippin’ no destination / High off love my medication” Even with all the love one can give, the conflict between the real and the ideal keeps widening the gap between two hearts until there’s no way to go but apart. “And when everything gets dark / I’ll be with you even in the darkness / The reality is a heartache / Let’s get out of here” In this sense, “Lost in Euphoria” could very well be a prequel to ‘Broken Me’ where BM takes a deep dive into the dark side of his psyche, translating his pain into art, straight from the soul. In other words, ‘Broken Me’ is the shadow work that follows the pain portrayed in ‘Lost In Euphoria’. One can hope therefore that what is set to come next, is salvation.
